In unserer Serie 'Lieblingsboote' darf dieses kleine Boot nicht fehlen. Es ist die Vrouwe Jacoba und der Grund, warum wir unser Bootsabenteuer überhaupt angetreten haben.
Here it is, the boat that launched the Plan B. This adorable little tub was moored behind our vacation rental in Kollum, in Friesland NL, back in September 2012. We saw it on our strolls with Neira and thought: 'Imagine drinking tea onboard and watching the sunset….'
Die Vrouwe Jacoba lag für ein paar Tage in dem Kanal hinter dem Häuschen, das wir für unsere Frieslandferien im Herbst 2012 gemietet hatten. Sie sah so friedlich aus wie sie da lag, besonders abends, wenn das Licht durch die Vorhänge schimmerte. Bis heute wissen wir nicht, in wessen Kopf die Idee zuerst aufkeimte, aber da war sie: So ein Leben könnten wir uns auch vorstellen.
Called the Vrouwe Jacoba, it had workboat lines and a steel hull, quite unlike what we ended up with. But it was just so charming and so lovingly fitted out. We began to look into buying a boat in the Netherlands shortly thereafter. And to this day, we cannot say which of us came up with the idea of getting a boat. It seems to have spontaneously coalesced in both our minds and there it was. Voilà.
Also machten wir uns auf die Suche nach einem Boot. Zuerst sollte es natürlich eines wie die Vrouwe Jacoba sein, aber das erwies sich für unsere Bedürfnisse als nicht geeignet. So haben wir die Plan B erworben, und freuen uns jeden Tag an ihr. An die Vrouwe Jacoba denken wir aber immer wieder gern zurück.
Stubborn as I can be, some weeks later I actually tracked down the Vrouwe Jacoba's owners and they were not interested in selling. Just as well, we say in retrospect. But the idea was firmly planted by this boat we love.
