As the Water Rat said to the Mole already in 1908, "Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats …Whether you get away, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular."
From "The Wind in the Willows," by Kenneth Grahame.

Mastgans
Goosed
As we awoke this morning we heard a rat-a-tat-tat on the hull. And then came another round. "What's that noise?" Aila murmurred after two more replays. I stuck my head out the window and saw this innocent-looking disturber of the peace. The local goose was letting us know it was time to get up and start distributing yesterday's bread. The main recipients of our offerings are a pair of coots. They're never far off the finger and they no longer flutter away when Pippo greets them with a murderous growl. They know his limits. But this pushy goose is going a bit far. Oh well, Christmas is coming and it might be time for a roast goose after all....
