We have had to change foam mattresses too often on Plan B. Once again, a boat is a hostile environment, certainly for mattresses. It's damp to begin with and condensation can make it damper. But when were were in Nieuwpoort waiting for trim sensor salvation we spied a pretty convincing boat bed idea, Flexima, coming from land-locked Austria, funnily enough. I picked them up the other day.
It's a clever design, with plastic springs embedded in ventilation channels in the foam. It also uses mesh where it contacts the boat's surfaces, to reduce condensation. After one night the feeling reminds us of our superb Hästens coil-spring bed in Zurich.
It was measured, manufactured and delivered in about two weeks. Now we'll see how it holds up. First impression: Aahh.
