That's Andrew. He's Scottish, attending the big maritime college in Rotterdam. He and a friend bought this abandoned cruiser for a couple of thousand euro from Dirk. It is a handsome wreck, but a wreck nonetheless. Unless you and your friend are studying naval engineering and you have a master mechanic for a dad, as they do. Still, the work it needs is awesome.
They've examined the hull and they will be welding the weakest areas. The idea is to get the hull tight and then tow or drive it to Rotterdam and continue the rehab there. It's a roomy tub, with bedrooms fore and aft. Just right for the guys. If ever a fading beauty fell into the right hands, it's this one.
Cockpit.
Galley.
Problem.
The ship has two big old DAF engines, which may be damaged. That thought would be enough to send me into therapy but Andrew's dad is the master mechanic and they've roped him into the project. Convenient, innit?
