Saint-Jean-de-Losne

Bei wechselhaftem Wetter stecken wir zur Zeit in Saint-Jean-de-Losne. Laut Wikipdia ist "die touristische Attraktivität von Saint-Jean-de-Losne vor allem durch den örtlichen Hafen gegeben". Der hat dafür einiges für sich.

The weather has kept us in Saint-Jean-de-Losne. The town ain't much but the contiguous harbors are happening. Lots to see, believe me.

Saint-Jean is home to many barges, working and recreational. We saw some very cool examples of both.

Dieses Prachtstück fährt unter britischer Fahne, hat aber einen wirklich exotischen Heimathafen.

There a few old relics are placed here and there. They belong to the local barge museum.
Ein Baudoin-Motor aus dem Jahr 1930 mit 6 Zylindern und insgesamt 72 PS. Das Teil ist fast so gross wie unsere Plan B.

Squint and it looks a bit like a cathedral, this six cylinder motor from 1930: 72 hp at a stately 750 rpm.
Auch der Bootsvermieter Le Boat hat eine Flotte hier liegen; im Bild ein kleiner Teil davon. Wehe, wenn sie losgelassen.

Le Boat, one of the big renters, has a massive harbor to itself here. Must be a couple of hundred bumper boats in all. We shudder to think how they get in and out of the narrow harbor entrance.

Well, we had this bit of unemployed rope at the end of our stern line and it just popped into my head to coil it, like the really neurotic boaters do. I hope it's just a one-time thing.
