Bootbesserung: Polyester, Alt- und Neumetall
Old metal, new skin and a peek into the future

Heute begann Piet, die alten Motorenlöcher abzudichten und den neuen Polyesterbelag anzubringen. Das war mit ziemlich viel Staub verbunden...

Piet grinds a 15cm-wide sloping band around the perimeter of the wood inserts. The idea is for the five or so layers of new fiberglass to overlap the edges of the inserts. Dusty work that highlighted some spiderwebs spectacularly.

Währenddessen waren Roy und Dirk unterwegs, um unsere alten Motoren und Antriebe bei Volvo Penta abzuliefern, die uns für den alten Schrott erstaunlicherweise noch etwas bezahlen.

Meanwhile Dirk and I went on a rewarding circuit, first stopping to pick up the old sterndrives. Volvo Penta has offered us a remarkable refund for the old engines and drives that helped to seal the deal.

Mulder Motoren, outside of Rotterdam, is the king of Volvo Penta dealers in NL. We spent a really informative hour here. Our order has been placed with the Swedes and Dan thinks four to five weeks' wait is probable. From a powerplant perspective, we're moving from mid-20th century to modern with the new hardware. Can't wait!
