Heute haben wir unser Fahrrad abgeholt! Gekauft bereits letztes Jahr, konnten wir es bis zum Gebrauch - also heute - beim Velohändler stehen lassen. Das Modell ist bereits seit Jahren nicht mehr im Verkauf, aber für unsere Zwecke ideal: klein, leicht, unisex und - weil eben nicht der letzte Schrei - günstig. Hier ein Katalogbild von unserem Rad in Orange, weil ich wieder einmal vergessen hatte, ein Vorher-Foto zu machen.
We picked up the staff bicycle today, actually purchased last autumn. It's a bit of an oddball design from Sparta, a venerable Dutch bike brand. They sold it as a unisex (or is that neutered?) city bike. Above, a catalog image showing its small wheels and folding bike proportions. It doesn't fold but never mind. Its size and overall cuteness made it the bike for us. This model was evidently launched in 2008, and we found a deeply discounted example in Oudenbosch. Sometimes there are benefits to trading in a town that time forgot.

With the dinghy gone, the swim platform is available to store the bike, which we expect to use for shopping, general reconnoitering and the like. And since the dogs don't pedal, one bike is enough.

Dies ist nicht irgendeine 08/15-Klingel, sondern eine handdekorierte Klingel mit mit Meeresszenerie - ein Abschiedsgeschenk von meiner alten Büro-Crew.

The front wheel can rotate 180 degrees, allowing the bike to sit securely above the waterline on the swim platform, out of our way until we need it. Perfect.
