GPS macht es möglich, jede Destination ganz einfach zu finden. Heute füttern wir unsere iPads mit der Adresse in Hilversum, an der mein Vater aufgewachsen ist. Was wohl aus dem Haus meiner längst verstorbenen Grosseltern geworden ist?

Die Strasse ist schnell gefunden, doch bezüglich der Hausnummer sind wir unsicher: war es 35 oder doch eher 21?
The crew drove to Hilversum, where Aila's late father, and Silvia's late husband, Rob, grew up.
Schliesslich finden wir das Grundstück. Das Haus selbst ist längst abgerissen und durch einen Neubau ersetzt. Schade, finden wir; es war ein hübsches altes Haus.
They located the property but the house has been torn down, replaced by a two-family unit. Still, the trees and the mood still resonate.
Danach machen wir einen Ausflug zu den nahegelegenen Loosdrechter Seen. Es ist inzwischen Mittag geworden, also suchen wir erst einmal ein nettes Plätzchen zum Essen.
Just outside Hilversum, the vast fresh-water chain of Loosdrecht lakes begins. Lunch was a lucky choice, starting with our table, right next to the harbor. The food was as good as the view.
Es ist ein sonniger und warmer Tag. Dass Roy eine Mütze trägt, ist allein der Sonneneinstrahlung zuzuschreiben.

Pippo hingegen friert schnell, seit er die meisten seiner Haare lassen musste .... Er legt sich daher in seine brandneue Reisetasche!
Here's the new boy settling into his carry bag for the first time. We hesitated buying this thing but Pippo accepted it immediately. Who wouldn't like a comfy bed, available whenever you want it, anyway?
Nach dem Essen laden die Uferwege zum Spaziergang.
After lunch, it's time to take the dogsters for a stroll, this time along a finger of land extending into the lakes.
Pippo begnügt sich natürlich nicht mit einfachem Spazieren, sondern springt (auf der Jagd nach einer Welle) in den See und muss gerettet werden.
Pippo's always good for a bit of adventure. Today he skipped into the lake and needed a hand to get out. That guy. We're pretty sure his walks in his earlier life were far from nature. After two weeks with us, he's calmed down a lot but he's still discovering all kinds of things. Today, the lapping waves of the lake needed his most acute attention.
Da kommt seine Tasche wieder zum Einsatz, um den kleinen Kerl zu wärmen. Wetten, dass Roy sich nie hätte träumen lassen, einmal mit Hundetasche fotografiert zu werden?
It turns out Yorkies have no undercoat, just hair, like I used to have. They easily get chilly. So, after his dunking, Pippo was glad to get into his cozy portabed. I don't look too pleased with the little fella, do I?
Zum Abschied noch ein Stimmungsbild; der Himmel hat sich inzwischen bewölkt, doch wir freuen uns auf einen neuen sonnigen Tag morgen.
And so ended another day fun-filled with out guests. Nice.
