Heute soll Pippo wieder einmal eine Lektion in Sozialistion bekommen. Er hat mit fremden Hunden Probleme, knurrt oder bellt sie an, beisst auch manchmal, und obwohl niemand den Kleinen so richtig ernst nimmt, ist das manchmal ganz schön lästig. Deshalb geht es heute auf die Allmend, den Hundespielplatz der Stadt Zürich.
There's a flood control river bed on the edge of Zurich called The Allmend. Dogs run free here. Lots of them. We think Pippo was under-socialized as a pup and we've been encouraging him to mix with other dogs. We've been looking forward to taking him to The Allmend and today was the day.
Oberhalb der Allmend treffen wir Claudia, Fabian und Lotte. Weil sich Menschen und Hunde gut verstehen, setzen wir unseren Spaziergang zusammen fort. Lotte, etwas mehr als ein Jahr alt, kommt aus dem Tierheim des Tierschutzbundes Zürich und ist eine grauhaarige Ausgabe von Neira.
On the way, we met some delightful companions, Claudia, Fabian and their dog Lotte, who looks a lot like Neira dipped in gray paint. The dogs and the humans got on splendidly with one another (Fabian's a big fan of The Wire, which earns big points with me). Lotte quickly bonded with Plan B's crew and the three of them met all comers in The Allmend and had a lot of fun.
Ein Stück des Heimweges haben wir gemeinsam und plaudern im Bus noch etwas weiter.

Pippo hat sich auf dem ganzen Spaziergang hervorragend gehalten. Er ist nicht verloren gegangen, er hat weder geknurrt noch gebellt und auch niemanden gebissen. Es scheint, dass er sich im Rudel mit Neira und Lotte sicher und wohl fühlt. Und so hoffen wir, dass wir Claudia, Fabian und Lotte bald wieder treffen.
And Pippo? We can only say Pip, Pip, Hooray! He was great. Didn't run off, didn't attack new dogs (as he sometimes has done in the past) and came when called. There was a time we thought we'd never use 'Good dog' and 'Pippo' in one sentence, but today he was just that -- a very good dog.
