Leben auf dem Boot ist leider nicht nur süsses Nichtstun und Trallalla. Ende November geht die Plan B in 'winterstalling', ins Trockendock. Bis dahin gibt es noch einiges zu putzen und vorzubereiten. Heute haben wir dem Zelt eine Reinigung verpasst.
Plan B has a relatively large tent and our living space will expand dramatically in the warmer months. But now, a week before we take the boat out of the water, it's time to clean that big top. It had taken on a rather mottled, fungal appearance on the inside.
In einem ersten Schritt reinigt Roy das Zelttuch, das sich in der letzten Zeit ungesund verfärbt hat, mit einer trockenen Bürste. Das bringt leider keine nennenswerte Verbesserung.
I went at the tent with a stiff brush. This removed some loose material but really didn't accomplish much.
In einem nächsten Schritt wiederholen wir das Prozedere deshalb, bürsten diesmal allerdings mit Essigwasser. Das hilft!
The next step was Aila's very bright idea: repeat the brushing, this time with a solution of water and … vinegar! This stuff is good.
