Silvia, Rolf and Xavie came to Liège between Xmas and New Year's and stayed on the ultra-cool houseboat moored in front of us.

Sie wohnten im Hausboot Escondida, das gleich neben Plan B im Hafen liegt. Pascal, der Besitzer, seines Zeichens Psychologe und Hochseesegler, hat es selbst entworfen und mit eigenen Händen gebaut. Es steht zum Verkauf und ist zur Zeit via AirBnB als Ferienunterkunft zu mieten.

Pascal, the co-owner of the Escondida, is a true Renaissance man. A psychologist and blue water sailor, he designed this modern, minimalist floating apartment and built it with his own two hands.

Zu Beginn des neuen Jahres war ich beim Coiffeur. Jetzt bin ich gedreaded und muss mich um meine Frisur fast nicht mehr kümmern. Es wird allerdings einige Zeit dauern, bis das Ganze nach was aussieht.

Aila bit the bullet and got her locks dreaded to start the new year. It takes several months for the strands to fully form but it's looked good from the get-go. Natty, and, not least, efficient!

Saturday is Yellow Vest Day in France, when protesters gather at traffic circles to commiserate about the high price of fuel. But these days France has been rocked by massive protests against Macron's attempts at pension reform and the Yellow Vests are a bit of a sideshow. We can report that, at least away from Paris, daily life continues without disruption.

In Duravel ist immer noch ein bisschen Weihnachtsstimmung. Die Weihnachtsmänner sind selbst gebastelt, made in France statt in China.

Duravel has the cutest handmade Xmas decorations. There are several of these simple Santas around town.
